EEV diesel, hybrid and alternatives
In terms of propulsion, MAN omnibuses develop for the most part at the same pace as the much larger numbers of commercial vehicles -- the engines proven in trucks soon appear in bus and coach production. But as soon as the demands of the market and political issues influence developments, the omnibus becomes a pace-setter. MAN engineers have always focused in particular on city buses. Electric drive units are developed and series manufactured, worldwide there are more than 2700 MAN city buses in operation. They even satisfy the strict although not legally prescribed exhaust directives for EEVs (enhanced environmentally friendly vehicles). Today the customer can choose between two alternatives -- the new diesel engines of the D08 and D20 series are also within EEV emission limits with their two-stage turbocharging and electronically controlled CRTec® particulate filter (continuously regenerating trap).
The new Common rail engines of the Type MAN D20 offer power ranges from 270 up to 350 hp and are combined with the PM-Kat System by MAN.
