The roof dome at the front can accommodate a 19-inch monitor – electrically folding if so desired – while a second can be fitted near door two. As a special option, folding monitors in the central roof area are also possible. All monitors fitted have a light, slim frame that blends well with the interior of the new Tourismo RHD. The roof dome also accommodates displays for time and temperature, the on-board toilet, seat belt signs and for stop request signs when used in regular service.

The luggage shelves in the Tourismo RHD are open and self-supporting in design. The mounting brackets are discreetly integrated and also serve as partitions, while the shelves themselves are lined in needlefelt, both of which features help to prevent hand luggage from slipping around. The front edge of the luggage shelf forms a basic handle strip, although Mercedes-Benz can also fit a grab rail as an option.

Flooring and fabrics: the Tourismo RHD has something for everyone

The new Tourismo RHD is a high-deck touring coach tailored for a wide range of applications and for a diverse audience, and it is operated by all sorts of companies in many different countries. Its exceptionally varied range of appointments is therefore designed to satisfy widely diverging requirements and tastes. For example, as an alternative to the two standard flooring options of a metallic look or pebble design, there are six further variants in various shades of wood, from light to dark in tone. Mercedes-Benz is also happy to accommodate special requests.

Options include floor mats, different colours for the side wall panelling, for curtains and the fabric on the underside of the air ducts and for the panels and door of the toilet cabin. To make the choice a little easier for customers, the designers have put together a range of pre-assembled schemes in light/dark versions. These offer carefully coordinated combinations of fabrics for the side walls, ceiling and the lower shell of the luggage shelves.

A feast for the eyes: the new Softline seating

A true feast for the eyes, and unique across the sector, is the new Softline seating. The quilted diamond pattern used for the central section of the seat cushion and backrest is reminiscent of that found in a luxury-class Mercedes-Benz car and adds considerably to the appeal of the passenger compartment. The Softline seating is available in a single colour or a two-tone look, upon request with piping, with the leather-fibre material Composition and with the Mercedes star in the form of a badge in the backrest.

The new Tourismo RHD is generally fitted with the tried and tested seating of its predecessor. This is produced in-house, and is comfortable as well as light and of high quality. A wide range of variants are available. The entry-level version is the Travel Star Eco seat with its functional upholstery. The Softline variant, by comparison, features additional cushioning with a fleece lining, a contoured backrest and quilting. The top-of-the-range Luxline is even more generously cushioned, and features a distinctive pleat in the side of the seat and backrest.
