The ComfortClass 500 is about to become even more versatile. With the compact S 511 HD and S 519 HD club buses and the new S 515 MD and S 516 MD middle deckers, the Setra brand is once again demonstrating its keen eye for maximum possible economic efficiency while opening up extra dimensions with new vehicle lengths and heights.

S 511 HD and S 519 HD – the new virtuosos

Short or long - Setra now meets every customer wish and requirement with two new length variants of the ComfortClass 500. The 10.5 m short S 511 HD is the most compact member of the model series. The manoeuvrable club bus is the newly born successor to the S 411 HD of the Setra TopClass 400 and is now also available with automated manual transmission as well as rear door. Thanks to its short length and the option to integrate an exclusive lounge in the rear, this vehicle will very soon be the darling of bus operators wishing to cater specially for the needs of smaller tour groups. The "little one" passes the test of winding mountain passes or narrow city centres with flying colours.

The new S 511 HD compact bus has a length of just 10.5 m.

At the other end of the spectrum, two years after its market launch, the ComfortClass 500 has added a super long variant in the form of the S 519 HD. Rounding off the top end of the model range, the 15 m long three-axle coach offers a maximum of 71 seats, making it the ideal vehicle also for long-distance duty.

Measuring 15 m in length, the S 519 HD offers the most number of seats.

S 515 MD and S 516 MD middle deckers: the ideal entry to the world of travel

The 12.3 m long S 515 MD and the 13.1 m long S 516 MD stand for a new, low-cost and flexible entry into the world of private travel of the Setra ComfortClass 500, which is now augmented by previously unfamiliar vehicle dimensions to offer the appropriate model for every tour category.

The new MD models in the ComfortClass 500 are around 20 cm lower, and are available in lengths of 12.3 m and 13.1 m. (photo shows an S 515 MD with rear entrance).

Even with their shorter base frame and a height of 3.56 m, the new two-axle middle deckers are still capable of mastering every situation. That's because they are genuine Setra touring coaches that blend harmoniously into the existing product family while at the same time having a quite distinct character of there own.
Whether used as a shuttle, crewbus or for short weekend trips, i.e. on journeys with less luggage, they represent an alternative for all those bus operators who refuse to forgo the proven Setra standard of comfort.

The familiar inside standing height of 2.10 m is retained in the S 515 MD and S 516 MD, which also impress with their versatile seating variants and the option of a rear door. Both models are powered as standard by the OM 936. Boasting an output of 260 kW (354 hp) in both of the new models, the 7.7-litre six-cylinder in-line engine combines the necessary power with environment-friendly drive technology. As far as the interior appointments are concerned, the middle decker models are optionally available with all the familiar features from the HD variants of the ComfortClass 500.

For Hartmut Schick, Head of Daimler Buses, the Setra ComfortClass 500 has entered a new dimension with the latest vehicle models: "We are very proud that the four new touring coaches will add extra economically attractive model variants to our range of premium buses. With new heights and lengths, they too will keep down the overall operating costs of our customers."
